Responsible sourcing is not a department here.
Whatever we do at Pooja Wood House, we make sure it is environmentally responsible. We were among the earlier adopters of green practice within the handicraft supply community, and the commitment sits in how we buy, not in a brochure.
The practical version is simple: the overwhelming majority of what we handle is farm-grown hardwood — trees planted on agricultural land, field boundaries and plantations by smallholders who harvest them as a crop. That timber renews. Natural forest does not, at the rate this industry consumes it.
Our sourcing policy
Seven kinds of timber we will not trade in.
Pooja Wood House commits to avoiding timber from any of the following sources.
- Illegally harvested wood
- Wood harvested in violation of traditional or civil rights
- Wood from forests where high conservation values are threatened by management
- Wood from forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use
- Wood from areas where high conservation values are being destroyed
- Wood from forests where genetically modified trees are planted
- Wood harvested in violation of any of the ILO Core Conventions
Our certifications
Pooja Wood House holds FSC® Forest Management group certification for Small and Low Intensity Managed Forests (SLIMF), administered through the Pooja Farmers Group (PFG), which is constituted as PoojaPlus Farmer Producer Company Limited at Village Bai ka Bas, Kaladera, Tehsil Chomu, Jaipur, Rajasthan. PFG is aimed at promoting the sustainability of growers associated with farm plantation and its management.

The Pooja Farmers Group
Certification a smallholder could not get alone.
An individual farmer with a few hundred trees on a field bund will never carry the cost or paperwork of an FSC certificate on their own. A group certificate makes it possible.
PFG pools smallholder growers under one SLIMF forest management certificate. Members get access to certified markets and a documented buyer; the supply chain gets timber that can be traced back to the plot it grew on.
The group is registered as PoojaPlus Farmer Producer Company Limited — a farmer producer company, so the growers who supply it are also its members.
