Responsible sourcing is not a department here.
Whatever we do at Pooja Wood House, we make sure it is environmentally responsible. We were among the earlier adopters of green practice within the handicraft supply community, and the commitment sits in how we buy, not in a brochure.
The practical version is simple: the overwhelming majority of what we handle is farm-grown hardwood — trees planted on agricultural land, field boundaries and plantations by smallholders who manage them as a plantation. That timber renews. Natural forest does not, at the rate this industry consumes it.
Our sourcing policy
Seven kinds of timber we will not trade in.
Pooja Wood House commits to avoiding timber from any of the following sources.
- Illegally harvested wood
- Wood harvested in violation of traditional or civil rights
- Wood from forests where high conservation values are threatened by management
- Wood from forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use
- Wood from areas where high conservation values are being destroyed
- Wood from forests where genetically modified trees are planted
- Wood harvested in violation of any of the ILO Core Conventions

How it is structured
Pooja Wood House holds the certificates.
Both the FSC® Forest Management and the Chain of Custody certificate are held by Pooja Wood House. The Pooja Farmers Group and PoojaPlus Farmers Producer Company Limited are part of Pooja Wood House.
PoojaPlus Farmers Producer Company Limited was established by the promoters and owners of Pooja Wood House, primarily to facilitate access to and implementation of applicable Government schemes and programmes for farmers. Its directors are the same individuals who own and manage Pooja Wood House, so there is common ownership and common management throughout.
Pooja Farmers Group represents the associated group of farmers; the producer company provides the formal organisational structure through which Government schemes and farmer programmes are delivered. Pooja Wood House retains the management oversight and coordination for the forest management activities inside the FSC® FM certification scope, and that responsibility does not move.
The relationship is documented through organisational records, farmer membership and participation records, agreements or authorisations, and supporting documentation — which is what keeps the forest areas in scope subject to the required management control, monitoring, record keeping and implementation of FSC® requirements, whichever vehicle a farmer participates through.
