Two decades of supplying Indian hardwood

From a single Jaipur trading desk in 2005 to nine sawing and seasoning units across three states.

Our story

It started with the exporters of Jaipur.

Pooja Wood House was established in 2005 under the leadership of Mr. Ashok J. Shah, Director, trading timber to the handicraft and furniture exporters who have made Jaipur one of India's great manufacturing towns for wooden goods.

Those customers taught us the business. Exporters do not want "some mango wood" — they want 32 mm boards at 10 per cent moisture, this week, in a quantity that will not run out halfway through the container. Meeting that reliably meant we could not stay a pure trader. So we built our own sawing lines, our own drying yards and seasoning chambers, and put units close to where the timber actually grows.

Today Pooja Wood House supplies seasoned and treated wood across every major Indian timber species from nine facilities in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, to customers ranging from single workshops to export houses filling containers.

What we hold to

Four things we will not trade away.

Say the real lead time

A date we can hold beats a date you want to hear. If a species is short, we will tell you before you commit, not after.

Grade honestly

What we call it is what lands on your truck. Tallies are checked at despatch, and we would rather reject a board at our yard than have you reject it at yours.

Source from farms

Farm forestry, field bunds and plantations — not natural forest. It is better wood policy and it is a better business, because the supply renews.

Pay the grower properly

The Pooja Farmers Group exists because growers who are treated fairly plant again. That is the whole supply chain in one sentence.

“Whatever we do here at Pooja Wood House, we make sure that it is environmentally responsible.”
